Technically, Joe Blanton earned the loss. His line reveals more: 7.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 10 K. When he left the game in the 8th with a man on, JC walked the bases loaded and then the shit hit the fan.
In spite of all the nonsense that went along with this historically atrocious homestand, I have a hard time getting pissed about it. It’s not rooted in the fact that the Mets haven’t managed to wrest the lead from the flaccid pseudo-grip the Phils have kept on the NL East for weeks, though that helps soften the blow. It might be a defensive mechanism put in place to keep me from getting my BP up over something I have no control over.
A slight exaggeration. It was pretty chilly, and definitely un-June-like to those who have never had to stay up all night watching frost as part of their job description. I could have solved my problem by bringing my coat, which I left in my mother’s basement (where I allegedly write my missives) in my hurry to get out the door.
Come join Chris and I for a live game chat as RHP Scott Richmond (4-3, 3.90 ERA) takes the mound against LHP Jamie Moyer (4-5, 6.11 ERA) and the Phillies as they try to rebound from a tough first loss against a weak team with two fat, shitty ex-Phillie choad-sniffers. Chat starts at 6:30pm, First pitch at 7:05pm. See you there!
