PHILLIES ROLLING HOME

Had to wade through a slow few innings, but what a payoff. It was like being a kid at the dinner table, eating your peas and carrots before getting to the mashed potatoes. Whatever. It’s practically midnight and I have pinkeye. My normally whimsical analogies have a license to fall flat today. Don’t judge. Here’s your scoreboard:

Phillies 6, Mets 3 (in 10)||| BOX SCORE ||| DASH’S RECAP |||

You know who that is, don’t you? That’s right. The man that’s making Amaro look like a mad genius. Three of his biggest RBI of the season to-date came at the top of the 10th versus Ken Takahashi at Citi Field tonight when he ripped that home run to right center with 2 outs and 2 on.

After Madson puttied it up by retiring 3 of 4 and getting his 2nd save in as many nights, the Phils wrapped up their bi-coastal road trip with a 7-3 record, coming home with a 4-game lead in the National League East.

The Mets played them tough this week. I have to give them a little more credit than usual, what with their astonishing lack of guys named Carlos. As for the fans, well, what a bunch of classless jerkoffs. We do things right in Philly. If our pitcher blows the game in the 10th with a 3-run homer, we boo our guy. We don’t expose ourselves as readers of midwesterners’ blogs by chanting ‘steroids.’ Fuckers. I think we should all help Raul and donate our own stool samples to the effort.

And now it’s time for a long stretch of interleague play, with the Fightin’ Phils squaring off at the Bank against Boston, Toronto and Baltimore, before finishing out their regular season AL encounters with trips to Tampa Bay and Toronto to play the Jays again. I made the prediction a few weeks ago: the Phillies will win more games than they lose against the American League this season.

I’ll even go so far as to predict the numbers: 11 wins, 7 losses, against the AL East this year. Not outright dominance, but satisfactory enough for me to guarantee a 3rd consecutive divisional title.*

See you at the game tomorrow. You know I’ll be there. Go Phils.

    Your blog, along with Phillies.com will be my Phils lifeline while I’m overseas for the next couple of weeks. Loved waking up this morning and learning of the big win in extras. Really makes my day!
