The Phils came into Dodger Stadium for the first time since leaving as NL Champs and showed baseball’s “best team” what’s what. The game seemed to move incredibly slow because there wasn’t much action but in actuality the game was a quick one when all was said and done.
Cole Hamels pitched like Cole Hamels. He got the double play when he needed it and he got the strikeout when he needed it. He actually started the 8th inning with only 72 pitches thrown and eventually went out and just completed the game himself. That is Cole’s first complete game and first shutout of the year, and the first of many, let’s hope. I’ll tell you one thing, if Cole keeps pitching like this, Happ continues his ownage, and Bastardo can live up to the hype we could have one nasty starting rotation without even making a trade.
Now I must pose the question; why the hell in a Major League park are the Phillies bullpen pitchers given Walmart plastic picnic chairs to sit on? Seriously you could just picture Eyre wearing a chef hat grilling burgers and a Ryan Madson/Brad Lidge vs. JC Romero/Chad Durbin Top Gun volleyball match going on. Photo evidence:
Seriously what a rip. They might be more comfortable just sitting on their asses on the ground. It is all an unsuccessful effort to make our bullpen uneasy and try to get an advantage over the Phillies. The obviously forgot we have Cole Hamels and Rauuul Ibanez.
Duhz Ize did ran tuz getz Howardz outz! Douche…
