SAN DIEGO, THAT’S LATIN FOR A WHALE’S VAGINA

Phillies 5, Padres 3

The Phillies took another one. Tonight the Phils beat the Padres 5-3 to win their 4th straight game and they moved 1.5 games over the Mets for first place in the NL East. Blanton pitched well, Utley hit well, and Lidge saved well. I won’t get into graphic detail because Dash always does it better, instead I will touch up on the ice cold shoulder Lopes gave to Utley. Picture evidence:

When the player hits the home run it is customary for the first base coach to give him the congratulatory five but since Utley is a gamer/scrappy/bonerific and was busting it down the line (even though he knew he got every bit of it) Lopes was still busy clapping and didn’t even see Utley passing by.

Here is Utley following through on the five and as you can see Lopes is busy applauding his effort.

Now you have the pleasure of seeing Davey Lopes’ reaction to seeing his second baseman already around first base. Either he was saying Utley had no business running out a bomb like that or Davey Lopes is just simply cold as ice.
