PHILLIES WIN THEIR 5TH STRAIGHT

This is what my room looked like shortly after. Not really. It looked more like this. Anyway the Phils pulled out their 5th straight win moving them into sole possession of first place at the moment I am typing this, although the Mets are beating the Dodgers 3-1 right now so we might end up back in a tie. Hamels was decent enough for the win going 6 innings giving up 3 runs but extending his record to 4-0 at Great American Ballpark. The Phils touched up Johnny Cueto just enough for 4 runs and that ended up being all they needed, surprisingly. Lidge came in for the save and ultimately got it but not before giving me extreme heartburn once again and, from the looks of it on twitter, most of you were with me. Tomorrow the Phils trot Moyer back out there and I’m really not expecting much but hoping that we can get a quality start from Grand Pappy.

DOUCHE OF THE DAY: JERRY MANUEL

Keep throwing your players under the bus, it makes your embarrassing losses even funnier for us, douche…

  1. Hahahahahahaha Mets losing 5-3.

  2. Gradosphere

I was in attendance when Hamels made his major league debut at Great American Ballpark, giving up one hit and five walks in five innings of shutout baseball, striking out 7. He did not receive a decision.

I had forgotten his counterpart was former Phils farmhand Elizardo Ramirez, and that Shane Victorino went 4-4 with a HR.

Frankly, if the Reds run out lineups as pathetic as last night’s, the Phils will run their streak to 7 in short order. Adam Rosales and Darnell McDonald in 1B and LF…yep, sounds like a Dusty Baker team.
