GAME 2 RECAP AND DOUCHE OF THE DAY

Well, we lost again. I am going to stay positive, yet again. It was tough freezing my ass off through the entire game and it seemed no amount of beer was going to warm me up. The only excitement in that game really was Ibanez gunning down Kasey Kotchman, which I want to talk about for a second. Yunel Escobar was the one at bat who singled with men on 1st and 2nd. Which brings me to this picture…

Now here you see Yunel flipping the bat as if he just hit a 500 foot home run. Well guess what Yunel, nice name by the way, you didn’t even get an RBI on the play NOR did you tie the game the last time you did your little bat flipping base hits. That shit really pissed me off. Also I would like to apologize for my Jack “Trashner” picture because he continued to prove me wrong last night and I might have jumped the gun on that one. Anyway now for the Game 2 positives:

  • The bullpen has been absolutely lights out, retiring all 21 batters they have faced over these 2 games
  • We are in a much better position than last year. Think about it. After an 0-2 start in 08′ we had Eaton and Kendrick coming up. Now we have Blanton and Hamels coming up. Much better.

Now it is time for Douche of the Day. Today’s Douche of the Day is Mike Gonzalez and his stupid little dance on the mound.

  1. I hear what you are saying about the Yunel bat flip—it annoys me as well. But to be fair, watch the game today and you will notice he does it on every single at bat. Not just at bats where he gets a hit…he does it every time he puts the ball in play. Bobby Cox has apparently spoken to him and asked him to tone it down a bit but it seems like that has not worked up until this point. Cuban players tend to play with a bit more flair and Yunel Escobar is at the top of the list. But I honestly don’t think he is showboating.

  2. Yea I guess you are right I’ll have to watch him more closely on his ABs today. It just seems way more obnoxious on base hits and when it is against the Phillies of course.

  3. I’m not worried at all about the team being 0-2. Especially, as you pointed out, that Blanton and Hamels are up next in the rotation.

    The team will recover. There’s no way in hell this offense continues to sputter. They’ll score runs, it’s just a matter of time.

    Wasn’t Yunel the guy who flipped his bat and clapped his hands last summer, about a second before Victorino gunned down Unnamed Brave #6.3 at the plate last season in the best game of the year?

    Just wondering.
