CHRIS COSTE RETURNED TO SPRING ACTION YESTERDAY

Yesterday The Phils took on the Cincinnati Reds in a Grapefruit League game, falling 8-4. Cole Hamels made his Grapefruit League debut and Coste also came into the game in the 7th inning, which he hadn’t appeared in a game since the first one of Spring.

Phillies at the Plate:

Both Geoff Jenkins and Ryan Howard had homeruns for the Phillies. This one being Howard’s fourth, which leads all players in Spring. Howard also had a single. Another good performance was given by Jason Donald going 3 for 4 doing his best to win that last bench spot. Coste entered the game in the 7th but went 0 for 1. It is just good to see he is healthy and able to play again.

Phillies on the Mound:

Cole Hamels made his Grapefruit League debut going 2 and 2/3 innings and giving up 2 runs on 2 hits, one being a homer. Hamels continues to be on track to start Opening Night against the Braves. After Hamels pitched Carpenter, Bastardo, and Lehr all pitched and all gave up at least 1 run.

Today the Phillies have off but will be taking on the Braves tomorrow at Bright House Field. Lineups and scheduled pitchers will be posted when they are announced.
