HAMELS DOES HIS THING, PHILS WIN

HAMELS BEING HAMELS

HAMELS BEING HAMELS

The Phillies took care of the Canadian WBC Team yesterday 9-2 for their 4th straight spring training win. Cole Hamels got the start and went 2 scoreless innings continuing from where he left off last October. Hamels has been taking things a bit slow after throwing over 262 innings in 2008. But he showed little signs of rust.

John Mayberry continued his rediculous spring by going 2 for 3 with a two run homer. I didn’t get to see the homerun, considering it was only on radio, but according to Todd Zolecki he “crushed it”. You have to think Mayberry has a good shot at getting a bench spot if he keeps up this pace.

Today The Phils take on Jimmy Rollins, Shane Victorino, and Team USA. Kendrick will get the start. Here is the lineup and pitchers per Todd Zolecki:

1. Marcus Giles, 3B
2. Eric Bruntlett, CF
3. Raul Ibanez, LF
4. Ryan Howard, 1B
5. John Mayberry Jr., RF
6. Geoff Jenkins, DH
7. Pablo Ozuna, 2B
8. Jason Donald, SS
9. Lou Marson, C

Pitchers: Kyle Kendrick, Antonio Bastardo, Clay Condrey and Ryan Madson.

Should be interesting seeing (or hearing) J-Roll and Vic take on Kendrick.
