TOLD YOU SO, PHILS WIN 5-3

JIMMY ROLLINS SET THE TONE WITH A LEAD OFF HOME RUN, 1 OF 4 PHILS HRS

Well I say I told you so because in my preview of the game i said that we were going to win and the offense was going to beat up Arroyo. That they did. The Phils rattled off 4 home runs in the game, 2 of them by Pat The Bat. In the 3rd when Pat went yard for the second time, Jenkins followed him with another home run to the opposite field making it back to back jacks. Hamels went 7 IP giving up 2 R, only 1 earned, and struck out 4. Hamels didn’t really have his beat stuff but still stumped the hitter despite that. Gordon pitched a scoreless 8th and that made numerous Phils fans happy and built up my confidence in him a little. All we need Gordon for is set-up from here on out (hopefully) so to see him do well in that role is comforting. Lidge entered in the 9th and quickly got 2 outs, but then walked a batter. Next batter he got to fly to left field and it should have been ball game, but Taguchi wasn’t so Taguchi on that play. He ended up dropping the ball in foul ground, maybe losing the ball in the sun I don’t know, but it should have been caught reguardless. That was the Phils 9th error in 7 games. But in the end, after loading the bases, Lidge got the last batter looking to wint he game and he seemed pumped about it, as was I. Here is a video of Hamels talking about getting through the first inning of games, specifically today’s:

Great win. The offense besides burrell and utley of course, need to step up.
