THE WAIVER WIRE IS LIKE BOBBING FOR APPLES…APPLES MADE OF POOP.
OK, I know Gillick has found the occasional gem through waivers, such as Jayson Werth and Greg Dobbs, but come on now. Tim Lahey was aquired from waivers through the Chicago Cubs who had him all spring after trading for him from the Devil Rays, or Rays…whatever i don’t really care. Anyway we HAVE to keep him on the 25 man roster all season or offer him back to the Twins where he is originally from. Sound like a Fabio Castro situation to anyone else? Now supposedly he has tremendous upside and he’s a good story since he was a catcher through high school and college but is now pitching. We have Chris Coste, enough good stories WE WANT GOOD PLAYERS!!! I was willing to give Lahey the benefit of a doubt but he made his debut with the Phils today against Toronto and went 1 inning and gave up a run and was lucky to only give up 1. He loaded the bases with 1 out on 3 hits, with his 4th hit surrendering the run (more on this game later). The only way I was going to have any confidence in Lahey staying on this roster for the season was with a perfect inning, even then my confidence would have only lasted till the next time he pitched and so on and so forth. So my feelings on this subject closely relate to what GM-Carson had to say over at We Should Be GM’s “Lahey is the piece of shit Gillick claimed yesterday”
HARRY KALAS SHOULD DO EVERY MOVIE PREVIEW, ESPECIALLY IRON MAN…
