MYERS AND CARPENTER BLANK YANKS 4-0

MYERS LOOKS READY FOR THE OPENING DAY NOD

Today in Clearwater Brett Myers threw 5 IP against the Yankees with 2 H 2 BB and 3 K’s. He has now brought his spring ERA down to a mere 1.13 and appears ready to tackle the Nats on March 31st at CBP. Pitching prospect Andrew Carpenter made his spring debut relieving Myers for the final 4 innings and looked damn impressive. He went 4 IP with 2 H 2 BB and 6 K’s. Carpenter won 17 games for Clearwater last year in the regular season and 2 more in the playoffs so the Phils are expecting big things from him in the future. I’m not sure he has ever faced major league hitters before but he definitely proved he has the stuff today.

FATTY NEEDS TOMMY JOHN SURGERY

Well, Rolly Polly Mike Zagurski needs Tommy John Elbow surgery and won’t be able to begin throwing again for another year. I guess that will give him some time to have that calf muscle heal right? I think this is unfortunate as I saw Zagurski, despite his hefty size, being very good for the Phils in the future. Here’s to a speedy recovery…
