HAMELS GOES 6 INNINGS GIVING UP ONLY 1 RUN
The Phillies picked up their 3rd straight spring training win on Tuesday on the strength of Cole Hamels pitching performance and Geoff Jenkins 2 run homer. Cole Hamels had a perfect game going in the 5th with 2 outs until Evan Longoria, one of the top prospects in the game, homered and broke up the perfect streak. It’s good to see everyone coming around now. Rollins and Utley both went 1 for 2 and look to be turning it on after their slow spring start. Today the Phils take on the Rays again but this time at their place, Progress Energy Park in St. Petersburg, Fla. Jamie Moyer will get the start opposed by Edwin Jackson. The game is set to kick off at 1:05pm.
Brad Lidge threw another live batting practice yesterday and is said to be pitching in a minor league game Thursday and hopefully see some Grapefruit action Sunday. He also said he can’t see anything that would stop him from being ready by Opening Day.
I picked up Chris Coste’s book on Monday and already finished reading it yesterday. It was an excellent book and really fun to read. I’m not much of a reader usually but I couldn’t put the book down. In the next couple days I am going to post a detailed review of the book for anyone who is thinking about buying it but not sure. Todd Zolecki talks about the book over at The Phillies Zone.
